Pulps
Softwood Kraft Pulps
Canfor produces kraft pulps at all three of our mills
in the central interior of British Columbia. These mills
are located near the city of Prince George, on the Fraser
River. They produce ECF softwood kraft pulps, primarily
from the residual chips produced at local sawmills.
The primary species we use are white spruce (picea glauca),
lodgepole pine (pinus contorta) and alpine fir (abies
lasiocarpa). These fibres are in demand world wide for
their superior ability to reinforce a wide range of
demanding paper grades. The majority of our production
is of fully bleached pulps, but we also produce specialty
unbleached and semi-bleached varieties too.
Through our Howe Sound Pulp and Paper Limited Partnership,
we also produce softwood pulps at the Howe Sound Mill.
This mill is situated in a different forest region and
has access to a different range of fibre types. These
include western red cedar, western hemlock and Douglas-fir.
As a result the mill is able to produce several different
pulps, each tailor-made with the demands of different
paper grades in mind.
Canfor Pulp and Paper Marketing is proud to be able
to offer one of the most diverse ranges of softwood
kraft pulps available from any supplier to the pulp
market today!
