Canfor Taylor Pulp Mill
Canfor produces high yield Bleached Chemi-Thermal
Mechanical Pulp (BCTMP) at its Taylor Pulp Facility.
The mill
is located in the Peace River Valley approximately
1500 Km Northeast of Vancouver. The two-line mill
was upgraded in 1999 and now produces a range of
chlorine-free hardwood and softwood pulp for applications
ranging from high brightness tissue and towel grades
to low brightness newsprint grades. The mill processes
wood chips with hydrogen peroxide and a thermo-mechanical
process (CTMP) process that produces about twice
as much pulp from the same fibre as the kraft pulping
method. Spruce, pine and aspen chips provide a high
quality fibre for the production of specialized products
for customers in the U.S. Canada, Europe and Asia.
The mill has an annual capacity of 220,000 tones
and employs 125 people.
BCTMP Pulps produced at Taylor
Division are known for:
- High
bulk and opacity
- Low shives and debris
- Consistent brightness and freeness
Hardwood BCTMP
Canfor’s hardwood BCTMP pulps
are produced from a pure aspen furnish and available
in a wide range
of freeness levels. These high bulk pulps are well
suited for production of high quality boxboard. The
high bulk and excellent absorbency of these pulps also
produce superior towel and tissue Softwood BCTMP
Canfor’s softwood BCTMP pulps
are produced from 100% residual Spruce and Pine chips
sourced form area
sawmills. These high strength chemi-mechanical pulps
are ultra clean and available in a wide range of freeness
levels. The high opacity softwood grades are well suited
for printing and writing paper production, providing
excellent opacity and machine runability. These pulps
can be used on their own or as supplements to in house
mechanical pulp production. |
