Bill Wade, RPF has been
named Forester of the Year for 2002 by the
Association of BC Professional Foresters
(ABCPF). Bill was awarded with this distinction
at the Awards Banquet in Vernon, as part
of the association’s Annual General
Meeting.
Bill was recognized by the ABCPF for his
significant contribution and leadership
in the planning and implementation of Sustainable
Forest Management in Northern British Columbia
and at Canfor. Some of his key accomplishments
and leadership roles include the Scenario
Planning Project on TFL 30, the Sustainable
Forest Management Plan for Canfor’s
operating areas in the Prince George TSA,
the development of public involvement processes,
CSA Certification for TFL 30, production
of a Field Guide for Species at Risk and
his involvement with other Canfor foresters
in implementing our Forestry Principles.
Canfor is very proud of Bill and the recognition
he has received from the Association of
BC Professional Foresters. Congratulations

Forest Stewardship Recognition

John Deal, Ecosystem
Forester at Englewood operation, has been
awarded the Forest Stewardship Recognition
Program award from Wildlife Habitat Canada
(WHC). The WHC program “...promotes
awareness and appreciation of good stewardship,
sustainable forest practices and forest
biodiversity conservation efforts across
Canada. People, organizations and companies
who have made outstanding contributions
in these areas are recognized.”
John’s work over the years at Englewood
encompass a range of progressive forest
management and conservation initiatives,
including a recent and innovative Adaptive
Management Strategy for goshawks, a Sustainable
Forest Management Plan for TFL 37, as well
as work on ungulate winter ranges, marbled
murrelets, forest owls and black bear denning
habitat. Congratulations John on being recognized
for your hard work and contributions towards
sustainable forestry.
